Adult Theatre Department

Includes classes in basic acting technique, including scene study and monologues in classic and contemporary theatre. The young actor is prepared with monologues for agents, classes in cold readings and presentation of self. The Adult Acting classes include participation in play readings, staged readings and Equity showcase productions. Giving the young artist the opportunity to apply acting technique, and build a professional resume. Many of the young adult students have worked and developed into full professional actors and made great artistic contribution to New Media. Scholarships for these students are available and have contributed to rehabilitation, recommendation and for professional work.

The professional theatre company has a long tradition in producing classic theatre by Moliere, Chekov, Ibsen, and Wilde. However, our main efforts have been to support and help the new and contemporary playwrights from play readings to staged readings to full production. New Media Equity productions of new plays have given the new playwright the opportunity to have their work presented with a fine professional Equity Co., familiar with the playwrights work contributing greatly to the development of the playwright.

New Media's mission of individual support and encouragement is extended to the actors who venture time and time again to New Media for the opportunity to grow and be seen by agents and casting directors.

Our mission of cultural diversity has long been in effect and creates an audience of diversity as well. The support the professional actors have given to the young artist one of the things that theatre is all about.

As an Actress and Playwright, Miranda is the second generation in professional theatre, and knows from first hand experience the importance of support and encouragement for the professional actor and playwright. It is vital to the emerging artist and in turn gives the veteran artist the respect and appreciation that is so needed today. Free tickets are always available for students who would not otherwise be able to attend, discounted tickets for seniors and special rates for groups are available.

New Media is home for the artist, new or established, and a place to grow and expand.
